Good news! You’ve been asking for more Marshmallow and Jordan adventures, so I’m cooking up brand-new web comics just for you. Plus, if you’ve ever wondered what happened to Marshmallow after the book ended… well, let’s say the story isn’t over yet. Want to be the first to know? Stick around - I’ll be sharing all the fun right here! 😉
While researching for Marshmallow & Jordan in Bali, I stumbled upon the fascinating story of Kopi Luwak coffee, courtesy of Marshmallow & Jordan. It’s one of the rarest (and second most expensive) coffees in the world. I love the story so much that even though it didn’t make it into the book, it had to become a Marshmallow’s Diary comic.
BUT…
Let's play a game first! If someone offered you:
"A cup of the world's fanciest coffee - 100% real, totally safe, no funny business..."
...BUT they won't tell you what makes it special yet...
Marshmallow’s Diary - Dad’s ‘Special’ Treats… ☕️
Now you're probably wondering…
What exactly is Kopi Luwak coffee?
Kopi Luwak starts as coffee cherries (the fruit that holds coffee beans). A cute, cat-like creature called the Asian palm civet munches on the ripest cherries. The beans travel through the civet’s tummy (yes, really!), get cleaned up by farmers, roasted, and turned into super fancy coffee.
Why Would Anyone Want to Drink That?!
Great question! Turns out, the civet’s digestion does something magical - it makes the coffee smoother, sweeter, and less bitter! The civet’s tummy enzymes break down the harsh flavors, leaving behind a chocolatey, caramel-like taste.
And yes, I tried it -It’s seriously tasty, and that's saying a lot coming from someone who usually isn’t a fan of coffee! 😋☕️
Wait… There’s a Coffee Even More Expensive?!
YES! Black Ivory Coffee is the most expensive in the world! Instead of civets, this coffee is made with the help of elephants in Thailand. The beans go on an even longer journey inside the elephants, and the result is a super smooth, floral, chocolatey coffee.
But here’s the crazy part: It takes 33 pounds of coffee cherries to make just 1 pound of beans - and most of them get squished along the way! 🤪
So How Much Are These Coffee?
🍒 Kopi Luwak (Civet Coffee) - USD$35 - $100 per cup
🐘 Black Ivory (Elephant Coffee) - USD$50 - $150 per cup
☕ ROUND 2: THE TRUTH IS OUT! ☕
Now that you know this "fancy coffee" has been on a... wild digestive adventure...
