This story is 100% true (and 100% gross, sorry). My dad is basically a human magnet for kids - the kind of guy who turns parent-teacher day into recess because everyone wants to play with him. Even the shyest kid would crack up at his goofy jokes, while I stood there like, “Uh… yep, that’s my dad.”(Secretly, though? I loved it.)
Growing up in Hong Kong, summer meant two things: sweltering heat and uninvited roach guests. My mom’s strategy? Scream, leap onto furniture, and summon Dad—the Bug-Slaying Hero™. His weapon of choice? A sandal. (Except for those legendary panic moments when he’d go full ninja and use his bare hands. Ew… but also, respect.)
So yeah, this comic is my love letter to my dad. Hope it makes you laugh - or at least not think about cockroaches too much.
