The Design Process for Creating a Page on One Perfect Plan.
When I receive a manuscript from the publisher, I will read it numerous times and put myself in the author's perspective to understand their thought process and creative intention. Sometimes, the imagery on a page comes very clearly to my mind, while at other times, I need to spend time experimenting and exploring.
Here is a page from One Perfect Plan. As Adam and Eve's story is familiar to me, the imagery comes naturally. The editorial and art teams liked the initial idea. However, upon consideration of the image design and text layout, a few modifications were made to create a better flow between the illustrations and text.
