It's been said that you shouldn't judge a book by its cover, but to an illustrator, the cover is just as crucial as the content. Designing a book cover can be challenging because we must consider how the image will represent the book's tone and how it will catch a reader's eye when surrounded by other books on store shelves.
We go through many different cover designs, trying to brainstorm ideas from different perspectives. Initially, we start with a traditional direct approach of a bible cover and slowly evolve into capturing the stories from the Old and New Testaments. I hope this gives you a glimpse into the creative thought process behind designing the book cover for One Perfect Plan.
