I just finished my new graphic novel! After countless hours of work, most of the project is complete, aside from the cover and a few pages for the front and back matter. I’ll share more about the stories soon.
Now, I need a break before starting my next project. My best friend introduced me to ASMR videos, which use calming sounds and visuals to help you relax. I’m curious about making my own ASMR video to unwind and hopefully share some relaxation with others who enjoy it.
I signed up for a Kawaii group show with Cozy Day Gallery in Texas. The theme is Kawaii Mascot - perfect for a fun project after tackling a big one! Switching gears from a massive project to cute art took longer than I thought, but I had a blast.
I also found out that making an ASMR video is harder than it looks! Getting the sound just right was tricky, and filming the entire painting process without speeding up made me feel super self-conscious. LOL. I created a couple of paintings for the show, and this video features a watercolor piece.
I recorded the sound of rain on one of those rare days when it actually rained in Southern California. This is my first ASMR - it's not perfect, but I hope you enjoy it! 🥰
What I used for this painting:
Paper - I used Arches Cold Pressed Watercolor Paper for this painting. I love the textured surface of this watercolor paper. Since this is a simple painting, I prefer the cold-pressed texture, as it fits this piece better.
Pencil - I love using a mechanical pencil for my final sketches, cause it helps keep the lines sharp and clean for painting.
Brushes - For this piece, I kept it simple with just two brushes from the Golden Maple Set—size 12 and size 0.
Palette - This is the first time I tried out my new DIY watercolor palette! If you’re interested in learning how I made it, be sure to check out my previous post - A Step-by-Step Guide to Crafting Your Unique Color Palette.
You can find all these supplies in my Amazon Art Store.
Happy painting! 😄🎨
On a different note, I want to share an exciting initiative called “The Amichia Project,” which was started by a student at Maynard Jackson High School in Atlanta. This project aims to promote diversity and inclusion among young readers. The goal is to provide elementary school children with books that feature a variety of characters and stories. This not only helps develop their reading skills and creativity but also teaches them social and cultural awareness, fostering a sense of community and acceptance. They are currently seeking donations of books that showcase diverse characters and narratives.
Wow, I can’t believe it’s been about two months since I started the Kid-Lit Community! It’s been so exciting to watch it grow every day. I’ve discovered so many amazing Kid-Lit friends, explored new books, and even reconnected with some old pals. I’ll keep the list updated and share posts from fellow creators regularly. If you’re as passionate about Kid-Lit as I am, definitely check out the fantastic creators on the list! Let’s celebrate all things Kid-Lit together!
